Maine Campus Compact Sustainability Programs
Sustainability Internship Database
To help promote student involvement we are currently putting together a database of organizations who offer summer and semester long internships in the environmental sphere. These internships will range any where from the political, to the educational, to the scientific realm of this growing interest in sustainability. Our hope is to create a source where students can easily find and contact organizations hosting such summer and semester long internships. In an effort to confront the emerging problems of energy efficiency and climate change we hope to inspire and enable student action in this area of growing concern. If you are part of (or know) any organizations that host environmental internships in Maine please fill out the internship registration form to help students gain access to your program.
Sustainability Americorps Program
In addition to providing access to environmental internships, Maine Campus Compact will also be offering a number Americorps Ed Award grants to students who decide to pursue work in the environmental field. If a student completes 300 hours of service for an environmental organization (nonprofit or governmental) before September 14, 2010, they would be eligible to receive an Education Award of approximately $1000 to put towards tuition or paying off student loans. These awards will be distributed based on an application process.
