With the help of Maine Campus Compact, Maine students have joined with students around the country to mobilize and speak out on issues of importance to them. These students have a clear message: Change starts with you. Act today to create the world you want to live in tomorrow. So... What are we up to?
Learn about 2007 Days at the Statehouse, April 4-5 in Augusta.
2005-2006 was a great year. Eight students from three different campuses headed down to Louisiana on a Gulf Coast Relief Alternative Break. There they built houses with Habitat for Humanity and reflected on the connections between the disaster in Louisiana and their local Maine communities. Over 100 students bulked up their civic skills at our CPR training, Day at the Statehouse, and Northeast Regional Campus Compact Student Conference. They met with Senators, learned how to perfect their message, and explored ways to augment their civic engagement projects. Yet other students supported their work through grants, workshops, and volunteer opportunities they discovered through Maine Campus Compact's weekly student digest.
Students in Maine are raising their voices and Maine Campus Compact is excited to help them do so. If you are interested in meeting with Maine Campus Compact to find out how you can get involved, contact Stefany (207-786-8392). Last year, over 1000 students were touched by Maine Campus Compact's student programming. Reach out and help make this year equally as successful!
